Q: I’ve heard that Pilates exercises will make my muscles longer and leaner. Is this true?

A: Pilates exercises will not lengthen your muscles, but they can help you with core strength, flexibility and body alignment. However, when it comes to losing weight and toning up, nothing beats a solid nutrition and well-balanced exercise program that combines both cardio and strength exercise. Keep in mind that there are only two biological substances you can change to alter the look of your body: lean muscle and fat. In our experience, losing fat while retaining lean muscle is the best way to change the look of your body. Also, any exercise program without a sound nutrition plan is bound to leave you looking much the same as you did when you started.
